Goal Seek Results

Figure 1 - Goal Seek Confirmation

When a Goal Seek analysis runs, @RISK launches a simulation run that begins with a set number of simulations, each with a set number of iterations. The number of simulations and iterations are determined as follows:

  • Simulations - The number of simulations is the maximum number of simulations configured in the Goal Seek Simulations window, under Maximum Number of Simulations.
  • Iterations - The number of iterations in each simulation is the number of iterations configured in the General Settings of the Simulation Settings window, under Number of Iterations.

The Goal Seek process will run simulations making adjustments to the selected input in each simulation. Simulations will continue to run until @RISK finds the value for the input that will achieve the desired result for the output.

When the target statistic value has been achieved, simulations will be stopped and the Goal Seek Status window (Figure 1, right) will open. Changes to the model can be accepted or discarded.
